An opening cinematic for an imaginary game. Worked on this project to learn about real-time character pipeline for games along with real-time alembic hair.
I wanted to make this dude from scratch to really push myself. This included his modelling, texturing, rigging, animation, groom and shading in Unreal. I made the scene with the help of individual megascans assets for BG and Fx from Unreal's free "Blueprints" project as my main goal was the character himself.
For the scene, I was responsible for layout, lighting and cinematography.
The original concept of the character was made by the amazing: Taran Fiddler

This one was special as it just kept growing from the initial plan which was to have just some small animations in a stiff pose.
I ended up rigging the character properly to make a small animation sequence.
He was especially fun to animate thanks to his legs and tail!
Exploring more about the hair shaders was fun too! I followed the amazing lesson by Nick Rutlinh (https://thekesslereffect.gumroad.com/l/mastermaterialforgrooms) and made my own unique hair shader out of it. It is amazing what all you can do in unreal.
Learning editing was also a crucial part. I have put all I know about cinematography and sound design into it. Please give feedback! I really would love to learn more about the theories of post-production.
Absolutely loved every step of this project. In love with Unreal Engine. 10/10 would do again.
